Sheffield Wednesday Women are delighted to announce their first two signings of the summer.
Prolific Black Cat goalscorer, Sarah Danby, has joined the South Yorkshire team for the 2009/10 season. Sarah, who featured in this year’s FA Cup final against Arsenal and played 16 times for Northern Division champions Sunderland this season, put pen to paper at the Grass Roots Show at the NEC, on the SWFC stand.
Also signing at the same event, was another ex-Sunderland player, Rachel Lee. Rachel scored in the British University final at Loftus Road this season, whilst playing for Leeds Met Carnegie.
Manager Dan Duke commented; "These are the first two signings in an extensive list of class players that we are now starting to attract to SWWFC.
"We definitely mean business this season and this is where it starts, with the quality signings of Sarah and Rachel, who I expect to play a massive part in our three-year plan to get into the Premiership.
"The girls will fit right into our squad and they can only improve what is an already focused bunch of players. We are in talks with other players that have expressed a wish to come and play for the new look Wednesday. There are certainly exciting times ahead for us this season."
